Batik workshop

Students will be introduced to the Indonesian traditional art of batik. Batik involves decorating fabric with wax and fabric dyes. Students will use a tjanting, which is a traditional tool to draw thier picture on the cloth before using fabric dyes to fill in their creative designs.  Every student will wear a batik shirt to enhance their Indonesian experience. While their masterpieces are drying, students will get a chance to play with  a sepak kenchi, which is a traditional toy found throughout South East Asia, including Indonesia.
