Testimonials
I would like to extend a big thank you to Jen for immersing the students from grades three to six at our school in an important era of Australian history - the Gold Rush! As part of the Chinese language program, the students had explored aspects of the era from a Chinese Miner's perspective and Jen's incursion program gave them invaluable opportunities to engage in hands on activities and further extend their thinking when putting themselves in the shoes of Chinese people of the time. The props, many resources and Jen's ability in engaging students with differing abilities and interests made for fantastic sessions with each class!

Our Foundation students were also very captivated by the excitement of Chinese lion dancing - the colours, the instruments and of course the elaborate lions! The Laughing Buddha scared some and brought about many laughs for others but all students listened intently as Jen explained the stories behind the traditional customs of lion dancing. They enjoyed utilising some of the Mandarin they have been learning in LOTE and readily participated in sharing their knowledge of other languages - a great opportunity to celebrate our culturally diverse student body! Thanks again to Jen for giving every student the opportunity to engage in hands on activities that greatly complimented my Mandarin Program!

The session was brilliant! It was creative and you demonstrated great classroom management. There was a good balance between "input" and "doing." The costumes were fabulous and really added to the incursion. It was a wonderful immersion into the Indonesian culture and an AWESOME "wow" activity for our students! We would highly recommend you and The Immersion Room to other senior classes and won't hesitate to use you again in future years. "What I loved about the Karate Incursion, was the wonderful balance of
practical instruction (all performed in traditional dress!) and informative
material about Japanese culture. This incursion taught the kids to listen,
follow instructions, respect other culture's beliefs and above all, value
themselves and their own individual progress. Jennifer ensured every moment
was fun-filled and full of energy!"

I just wanted to send another quick thank you- on behalf of all of the Year 5/6 teachers and students at Monmia Primary School. The teachers were very impressed with the incursion, and the students enjoyed themselves. It was great to get them up and moving to such a rich, sensory experience. The many colours and sounds provided a wonderful stimulus and immersion for our learning about Asian culture.

What an experience the children had! Everyone taking the part of different roles with the costume, lion head, laughing Buddha, and instruments. All the children had fun immersing themselves in the "world of Chinese celebration!" The children loved the activity so much that Jennifer had their full attention during the whole incursion. It was one of the best incursions we had this year. Ayako Mikuriya, Kindergarten Teacher Milleara Gardens Kindergarten (Lion Dancing Incursion)
Jennifer’s Dumpling Making incursion was an engaging and exciting
experience for all students, regardless of age and skill level. All students were drawn in by hands-on activities from the moment they walked in the door. The students left buzzing after experiencing something new and learning something they wanted to tell their family, friends and other students about.

The Immersion Room was the best incursion I have ever had the pleasure
of experiencing. My students were engaged and excited throughout the
session. Jennifer explained the activities with enthusiasm and kept the students
entertained. I have recommended The Immersion Room to every teacher I know.

Thank you so much for coming into our kindergarten Jennifer! You had the children so engaged and we have already followed on by decorating lions and making lanterns. Responses from parents have been fantastic! Spoke to one parent today, showed her photos and she was amazed by the lions, kung fu outfits, instruments, EVERYTHING!
Ms. M. Gosia Cranbourne Day Care & Kindergarten (Lion Dancing Incursion)
Wow! What an experience! Never in my many years of teaching have I
witnessed such an interesting incursion. Each of my students were able to wholly experience the various instruments and costumes that related to the Lion story. I would love to book The Immersion Room again so we can try the other rich activities that Jennifer has to offer. Thank you for such a wonderful visit!
